Arizona Grantmakers Forum's members are welcome to join the Alliance + Arizona Grantmakers for this informational webinar, presented by Bonterra and the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, centered on the Jumpstart Program. Deployed by grantmakers across the country, Jumpstart is a tech-enabled and cohort-based nonprofit capacity building program, recently piloted by Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust in Maricopa County. 

In addition to unpacking the outcomes from this pilot cohort, attendees will hear from two nonprofit leaders who participated in the program. Join us to learn more about the program, as well as the broader confluence of nonprofit technology and capacity building!

Jack Murphy, Directory of Community Impact, Bonterra

For over five years, Jack has served as a leader in the growth of Network for Good's flagship capacity building program, Jumpstart. In this role, he has stewarded partnerships with 120+ grantmakers, nationally, helping them bring right-sized development support to 2,000+ small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations. Now, as Director of Community Impact, Jack continues to occupy a unique role that bridges grantmaker and nonprofit communities, aligning the two in pursuit of a more innovative, evolved philanthropic landscape. Outside of his work, Jack is an avid volunteer, scuba diver, jaded fan of D.C. sports, and traveler (ask him about his travel blog).

Erin Goodman, Program Officer, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust

Erin Goodman manages Piper Trust’s arts and culture grantmaking portfolio; and oversees a number of collaborative efforts, including the Trust's capacity building programming. Erin has worked in fund development and nonprofit administration for more than 20 years, serving organizations with missions that span the sector; she was born and raised in the Valley and is a graduate of Arizona public schools including Arizona State University.

Laurie Liles, Chief Public Policy Officer, AZ Impact for Good

Laurie joined the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits following its merger with Arizona Grantmakers Forum in 2022. As chief public policy officer, she is responsible for developing and executing the Alliance’s public policy agenda and engagement strategy. An active member of the senior leadership team, Laurie leads Arizona Grantmakers Forum, bringing vision and strategic thinking to advance its full integration with the Alliance.

Laurie was president and CEO of Arizona Grantmakers Forum for seven years, providing strategic leadership and creating and sustaining relationships with aligned philanthropic, nonprofit and community partners. Before joining Arizona Grantmakers in 2015, Laurie worked to improve policy outcomes for Arizonans for more than 25 years. She began her career as a research analyst for the Arizona House of Representatives before joining the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, where she served as senior vice president of public affairs and as president and CEO, among other roles. In 2014, Laurie was a Washington, D.C. correspondent for Cronkite News, producing more than 30 stories covering politics, immigration and Indian affairs for Arizona news media outlets.

Laurie has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Mass Communication degree from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She serves on the United Philanthropy Forum board of directors and co-chairs its Public Policy Committee.

A native of the Southwest, Laurie grew up in Tempe, Arizona.
