Join us at our Rural Nonprofit Coffee Connections for a chance to meet and mingle with others in the field and enjoy refreshments.
To help nonprofits in our rural communities connect and thrive, we are hosting a board training, in-person, in Cottonwood! Ali Applin will present on "Your Role as a Nonprofit Board Member." 
This training is for professionals currently sitting on a board or looking at potential board service. This event will share knowledge and experience with attendees who are interested in learning more about what responsibilities board members may have.
In this session, you will learn:
  • How to best utilize your skills
  • How to work with other members of the board

Come ready to learn and full of questions. There will be time for an open discussion.

 
Registration is required as space is limited.
 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • You'll enjoy casual networking, delicious snacks, and applicable training.

Angelica Hernandez-Williams is a nonprofit leader and network marketer who partners with nonprofits across rural Arizona to build their capacity and connect them to needed services. She is currently serving as the Director of Rural Programs for The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. In her role, she helps provide educational opportunities for nonprofits to achieve their mission in rural Arizona. Angelica is a Certified Business Services Consultant and holds a Nonprofit Management Certificate. She has a Bachelors in Communications from Northern Arizona University and a Masters in Labor and Employment Law from Tulane University.

In 2022, Jared joined the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, bringing with him 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and nearly a decade focused on nonprofit development. As an emerging leader in the sector, he strongly believes every person has the power to create a transformative impact on our world. Jared has dedicated his career to raising support for organizations in the youth development and education spaces, holding staff and leadership positions with Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley and other non-profit organizations.As the Member Services Manager, he proudly supports our members, bringing awareness to the many benefits available to them as an Alliance member, and building new relationships with businesses across Arizona. Additionally, he works collaboratively with leaders and benefactors to scale the organization’s reach and change-making ability.

Ali has over 20 years of marketing and business development experience in a variety of different settings. She has helped corporate, non-profit, small startups and educational institutions design and promote products and programs across multiple platforms. She is well-versed in the art of communication and understands how critical marketing is to the success of any business. Most recently, she was the former CEO of NALTRA, where she helped to grow and expand the organization through education, advocacy and collaboration.
Her non-paying gigs have included serving on the Boards of the following organizations: High Country Humane, Flagstaff Women's Leadership Network, STEM City, Flagstaff Shelter Services, Tynkertopia, and serving as the Co-Chair of Events at United Way and helping develop the strategic plan for Camp Colton. Ali believes that serving as a board member or volunteering in a nonprofit is one of the best ways to effect change in the community in which you live.
